If you live in Rhode Island like me, then Block Island is a great day trip for a coastal country adventure. We left the car behind, boarded the speed ferry in Narragansett and set foot on Block Island half an hour later.
We walked the streets, peeked into stores...
... and enjoyed the quaint country side. I took this picture while walking up to the Oar restaurant.
The oar restaurant, of course, has oars -and they're everywhere! It's a one-of-a-kind place.
And you don't want to miss the view from the Spring House Hotel. It's a short walk up Spring road from the ferry. Have lunch on the porch, a drink at the bar, or just hang out on the lawn, that's what we did. And if walking is not your thing, rent a bike, a Vespa, or bring the car.
